The World’s Largest Arcade Machine: New World Record Set
The 1980s and 1990s are making a huge comeback, from vintage brands to remakes of classic films.
The same is true of a record-breaking arcade machine where players can play Tetris, the well-known retro game.
This enormous version of the popular puzzle arcade game is about 5 meters tall! (see picture above)
MadLab (Spain) has broken the record for the largest arcade machine with their invention while also creating a completely new, high-end gaming experience.
In December 2021 in Zaragoza, Spain, the record was broken, earning the unusual arcade machine a prized place in the Guinness World Records 2023 book.
The retro game station has a massive height of 4.90 meters (16 feet 1.15 inches) and a width of 1.98 meters (6 feet 5.99 inches). It has a depth of 1.11 m (3 ft 7.82 in).
In comparison, the height of a common arcade machine is between 1.70 and 2 meters.
MadLab’s record-breaking machine is taller than an adult male African elephant, which usually stands at about 3.20 meters (10 feet 50 inches), and more than twice as tall as a regular arcade machine.
The arcade machine is now found in the MadLab centre of the La Torre Outlet shopping mall in Spain.
One person at a time can take a huge coin from MadLab’s reception and climb the stairs to test their Tetris skills in a single-player experience.
A special version of the Tetris video game has been created to fit within the larger screen size of MadLab’s creation because a normal Tetris video game code would not work on this enormous machine. Tetris’s rules remain the same, despite the game’s unique size and different structure.
Would you visit this huge arcade machine and test your Tetris skills?
