Shrapnel

Shrapnel is a book by Robert Swindells. It tells the story of a boy named Gordon Price who is living during the time of World War 2. Gordon really badly wants to do his part in the war, despite being only 13 years old. His brother Raymond left the family and a job to do who knows what. But when Gordon finds a revolver in the chimney in Raymond’s room, he decides to track down his brother. But when he finds him, Raymond claims to be a secret government agent, and convinces his brother to join him. Gordon is excited about this, but could Raymond be hiding something from him? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

I’d recommend this book to ages 10 and up, since it has elements of wartime and violence. It also has some sad themes in it, and it’s a very gripping story. It was quite interesting to learn about different aspects of World War 2 and life during that time.
