Who? Ivy and Bean that’s who. They are two children who never expected to become friends. This is the second book in Ivy and Bean’s exciting series about two friends who see a ghost in the bathroom! They tell everyone in class that there is a ghost. So Ivy and Bean decide to investigate. They are ready to expel the ghost from the bathroom after making their secret potion!
I enjoyed the book Ivy and Bean and the Ghost That Had to Go because it is humorous and always leaves you wondering what will happen next. In the story, one of the characters changes by being nice and helping Ivy and Bean in expelling the ghost. This part is very suspenseful in my opinion because the reveal of who it is is quite shocking. My favourite part of the book is when Ivy and Bean ask about Nancy (Bean’s older sister) trimming her hair. It’s hilarious because Nancy never found out who cut her hair. The books in the Ivy and Bean series are all different and similar in that they do not always solve a problem in each book. The series is similar in that it always has a suspenseful ending, which makes you wonder what will happen in the next book. If you’ve read the book, you’ll know what happened to Nancy’s hair at the end.
I recommend the book Ivy and Bean and the Ghost that had to go because it’s a wonderful part of a kid’s book series that you’ll never want to put down. I recommend this book to realistic fiction fans because it is mostly based on the author’s imagination, but also on events that occurred in the author’s life and in the lives of many children. This book is appropriate for students in grades 3-4 and ages 8 to 10.
