Hot Air Balloons to Take Off in Doha from January 19
Fifty hot air balloons will fill the skies over Doha from January 19 to 28 as part of the Qatar Balloon Festival.
The festival will take place in its new location in Old Doha Port, a year after it was halted due to the country’s hosting of the World Cup from November to December.
The festival’s third edition will be a “fun-filled family event with a spectacular colourful display of over 50 hot air balloons participating from around the world,” according to the event’s organizer.
Lenny Cant from Belgium, with her strawberry-themed hot air balloon; Torsten Sprenger from Germany, with his sunflower hot air balloon; and Geert Van Wolvelaer from Turkiye, with his heart-shaped balloon, are among the different participants bringing their specially-shaped hot air balloons.
Along with them are Warley Macedo of Brazil, with his blue bird-themed balloon; Murilo Pereira Goncalves of Brazil, with a green witch balloon; Lee Hooper of the United Kingdom, with an alien balloon; and Ashley Moore of the United Kingdom, with a wolf balloon.
A special offer has also been launched with the help of the festival’s organizers and Qatar Tourism for anyone who wishes to experience the thrill of flying in a hot air balloon.
People wanting to do a balloon flight can reserve one for a discounted fee of QR499 per person until March 20. This non-refundable ticket allows you to have a 30-45-minute morning balloon ride. From January to March, the experience is only available in the morning, with some regional variations.
