This is the story of Henry and Mudge. Mudge is Henry’s 180-pound dog. Henry decided to send Mudge to day school because he wasn’t a good listener. Henry got the idea from another man walking his dog down the street. Henry tried to train Mudge, but it did not go well. Henry was so upset that Mudge was sent to day school. Henry thought Mudge wasn’t quite ready for school because he was afraid he’d drool on the teacher’s foot. Mudge needs more training. Find out what happens next.
I think Henry has trouble thinking about sending Mudge to dog school. It reminds me of how I felt when my friends weren’t listening to me. If I were Mudge, I would listen to my owner. I’m curious about how Mudge would feel if Henry were the dog and Mudge was the owner and Henry refused to listen. I think Mudge has a lesson to learn. This book teaches the reader to put themselves in the shoes of others. That is EMPATHY. I think Henry is angry and frustrated because Mudge is difficult to deal with. One example is when my classmates do not always listen to my teachers, Pam and Elissa. This also reminds me of how some children do not always listen to their parents.
I like Henry because he reminds me of the TV show Henry Danger. Mudge is also one of my favourites because he sleeps a lot. This reminds me of how I like to sleep. Many of the characters remind me of people I know. For example, I’ve always wanted a dog. This is an amazing book because the illustrations are very realistic. The pictures make it look as if it is actually happening. It gives me a lot of details. The illustrator does a good job at showing each part of the story in pictures.
Because this book is about a dog, I recommend it to people who own or want to own one. If you enjoy dogs or the Henry and Mudge series, you should read this book. Choose this book if you want to learn about assessments. I think the book is for first through fifth graders, as well as anyone who likes to read.
