Heidi

Heidi absolutely loves her mountain home, her grandfather (nicknamed the Alp-Uncle because he had lived on the mountain for so long), and her friends Peter, Bridget, and his grandmother. Heidi feels like nothing can ever take her away.

But one day, Heidi’s aunt Dete arrives to take her to Frankfurt to live with a disabled girl named Klara. Heidi loves Klara, but she misses her mountain home and grandfather and longs to return to them each night. Fraulein Rottenmeier, the housekeeper, will have none of it. Heidi begins to wonder if she will ever return home.

My favourite part of this book is when Klara and Heidi give Klara’s father the Christmas present of Klara being able to walk. In this book, my favourite characters were Heidi and Klara. They taught me to never give up and to always smile. This book made me want to keep reading.

Everyone should read this book. This book is ideal for anyone who enjoys reading about far-away places. If you enjoyed this book, you might like Heidi Grows Up as well.
