This story is about a boy named Jason Ross. He was recently kicked off his baseball team. The book starts by Jason finding Buck McHenry’s (a league ball player) baseball card. He reads the back and finds that he works as a school custodian in Michigan, which is where Jason lives! Jason also makes a new friend in Buck McHenry’s grandson. Jason learns about friendship, baseball, and Buck McHenry. Look for the answers to the following questions in the book: Why did he decide to become a custodian? Is Jason going to be on a team? If you read this book, you will find out.

FINDING BUCK MCHENRY by Alfred Slote is one of my favourite books because it tells a heartwarming story about bringing people together. It has a lot of ideas for stories you could write. My favourite part of the book is when Jason meets Buck McHenry because it is here that the story really takes off. Another reason I chose this book as one of my favourites is that it has a lot of description, which allowed me to really visualise the story. This is a wonderful story about friendship, which makes it the best to read in my opinion.

I recommend this book because it teaches you how to deal with important emotions in your life. This is the best book for fifth and sixth graders to read because it has 215 pages and detailed ideas. This is an excellent book that you should read. I hope you enjoy it.
